    Children's Ministries

The Children's Ministries of Chinese Baptist Church seeks to provide ways for children to learn how to put Christ first in their lives. Through various programs, we seek to minister to children of all ages. Children are God's precious gifts to us and we treasure them. We have allocated nearly one-half of our 46,000 sq. ft. Education Building for ministry to children.

    Nursery (0-2 years)

The nursery is divided into three separate areas: Cradle Rollers (birth-9 months), Toddlers (10-23 months), and 2-3 years old. Children are cared for and taught by adults who share God's love through activities, songs, and play. Snacks and drinks are also provided.

    Children (3-11 years)

We have separate Children's worship for both Preschoolers and Elementary-aged. During our 9:15 worship service, our children are involved in a Preschool Praise time (3-5 years old). Children's Worship (Grades 1-5) starts at 9:30 am. During both of the Children's worship times, they praise God through music, Scripture lessons, activities and prayer. At 11:00 am, there are Sunday school classes for each grade level. We provide a fun and exciting environment where they can learn Biblical principles through activities, stories, and interaction with other children.

AWANA - "Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed"       More Info about AWANA

CBC welcomes children to participate in this international Bible Club Ministry. AWANA is open to all children from kindergarten through 5th grade. Every Friday evening, during the school year (September to May), meetings are held in our Family Life Center (gym) from 7:30 - 9:15 pm.

Although the Good News of the Gospel is the main focus of AWANA, this program incorporates intentional evangelism and discipleship through a balance of learning and fun which includes games, Bible study, singing and fellowship. The children will learn to know, love, and serve the Lord and how to apply His teachings to their lives. They are also encouraged to participate in fun-filled team activities. AWANA Clubbers learn to memorize and understand Bible verses. Those who participate also have the opportunity to earn achievement awards as they progress through each year.

    Single Adults

    Career/MOSAIC Ministries

M.O.S.A.I.C. (the Ministry of Single Adults in Christ) is the name given to CBC's Singles ministry. Just as a mosaic is composed of individual pieces combined to form an image, our Singles ministry is composed of individuals combined to reflect the image of Christ.

    Sunday School

The Career (Young Singles) classes meets every Sunday at 11:00 am. Topics of interest are covered to help the student apply Biblical teaching into his/her life.

    Bible Studies

Various groups of Singles meet together for Bible study on a regular basis. There are small group Bible studies, ranging from those for people who are just investigating Christianity to ones for singles who desire an in-depth Bible study.

    Fellowship Activities

A monthly large group activity is held to promote fellowship and service among our members, as well as with other groups. Types of activities have included game nights, volunteering at the Houston International Festival, Christmas caroling and crawfish parties.

    Family Matters

This ministry focuses on the needs of families with children. Some of the issues that this group addresses are balancing family life, child development (intellectual, spiritual, social, and emotional), spiritual training, and maintaining a strong marriage amidst the many family responsibilities. Through the study of God's Word and the encouragement of those involved, the ministry seeks to build strong families that will establish a heritage that will extend for many generations. Family matters such as dealing with stress, child rearing, spiritual training and building strong marriages are dealt with in terms of God's perspective.

    Sunday School

The Family Matters class meets at 11:00 am on Sunday morning. Capable teachers, who are themselves parents, lead the class in discussion and sharing. Some of the topics in the past were: Proverbs-Wisdom for the Family, Heritage Builders-Money Matters, pHeritage Builders-Family Values, Refreshing Your Marriage, Grade School Issues-A Teachers' Perspective, and Survivor-Dealing with the Teen Years.

    Other Activities

Fellowship activities and service projects are planned throughout the year. A monthly large group activity is held to promote fellowship among our members as well as with other groups. Regular meetings are planned with the Married's class. In the past, fellowship activities have included crawfish boil, gym night, crabbing/beach outing, picnics, a fish fry and a parent's night out. Service projects included landscaping at Boys and Girls Country and re-striping the church parking lot.

Due to the variety of different needs and time limitation, small groups (home fellowship groups) have been developed based on individual needs. Please visit the fellowship site if you would like to be part of a small group Bible Study.

For more information contact David Lee through the church at 713-461-0963.
