Chinese Baptist Church |
|
The Caring Ministry began on November 4, 1995 to establish lines of communication for persons who are in need of prayer, encouragement, support, resources, etc. and to find ways to show our love and concern through the power of the Holy Spirit. For more information, click here.
The Children's Ministries of Chinese Baptist Church seeks to provide ways for children to learn how to put Christ first in their lives. Through various programs, we seek to minister to children of all ages. Children are God's precious gifts to us and we treasure them. We have allocated nearly one-half of our 46,000 sq. ft. Education Building for ministry to children.
Nursery (0-2 years)
The nursery is divided into three separate areas: Cradle Rollers (birth-9 months), Toddlers (10-23 months), and 2-3 years old. Children are cared for and taught by adults who share God's love through activities, songs, and play. Snacks and drinks are also provided.
Children (3-11 years)
During our 9:15 worship service, we have separate Children's worship for
both Preschoolers and Elementary-aged. At both of the Children's worships,
they praise God through music, Scripture lessons, activities, and prayer.
At 11:00, after Children's worship, there are Sunday school classes for each
grade level. We provide a fun and exciting environment to learn about
Biblical principles through activities, stories, and interaction with other
children.
AWANA - "Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed"

CBC also welcomes children to participate in this international
Bible Club Ministry. AWANA is open to all children from kindergarten through
5th grade. Every Friday evening, during the school year (September to May),
meetings are held in our Family Life Center (gym) from 7:45 - 9:30 pm. The
AWANA program is a balance of learning and fun which includes games, Bible study,
singing, and fellowship. AWANA Clubbers learn to memorize and understand Bible
verses. Those who participate also have the opportunity to earn achievement
awards as they progress through each year. Everyone participates
in a high-energy game time and monthly dessert fellowship.
Come join in AWANA and see what the excitement is all about!

Our college ministry seeks to help students in their relationship
with God, as they face the rigors of college life. It is our aim to provide
a challenging and spiritually motivating atmosphere in which the particular needs
of our college-aged students are addressed.
Sunday School
A College Class is held every Sunday at 11 a.m. The class is taught by
capable teachers who speak on relevant issues and show how God's truth can be applied
in each student's life and on his or her respective campus.
Other Activities
Various large group activities are held to promote fellowship and unity.
Previous activities have included game nights, Super Bowl parties, and overnight
trips.

the Church office at 713-461-0963
Music plays a vital role in CBC through our worship services,
training programs and special events. We have various choirs, praise teams,
and instrumental ensembles included in this ministry. Music outreach is
accomplished through short-term music mission trips to neighboring cities and
countries.

Adult Choirs
We have both English-speaking and Chinese-speaking choirs that sing during our Sunday Worship Services. The English Worship Choir rehearses on Wednesday nights from 7:30 - 9:00 p.m. The Chinese Choir also meets on Wednesday nights from 7:30 - 9:00 p.m.
Children Choirs
For our younger attendees, we have 3 children choirs separated by age group. These choirs are: Music Time (4-5 year olds), Music Makers (1st-3rd grade), and Young Musicians (4th-5th grade). These groups meet on Sunday afternoons from 12:15 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. The choirs are led by capable, loving adults and sing during our Sunday Worship Services at various times of the year.
Worship Teams
Various praise teams are formed to help lead worship during worship and other church events. Musicians and vocalists are invited to be part of a team which serves in either the English or Chinese worship services. Practices are held on a weekly basis at different times depending on which service in which the team will participate.
Instrumental Ensembles
We have various instrumental ensembles (handbells, choir chimes, string, brass, etc.) which minister to us at various special events. These ensembles usually form only for these events and as such do not meet on a regular basis. Choir-Chime Ensemble is the exception. A group of Middle-Schoolers rehearse on Sunday afternoons.

M.O.S.A.I.C. (the Ministry of Single Adults in Christ) is the

combined to reflect the image of Christ. Schedule
of upcoming MOSAIC activities.
Crossroads is a group at
CBC for the single adult, male or female, who is 35 or more years old, with a wealth

This ministry focuses on the needs of families. Some of the
issues that this group addresses are: balancing family life, child development
(intellectual, spiritual, social, and emotional), spiritual training, and maintaining
a strong marriage amidst the many family responsibilities.
Sunday School
At 11:00 am on Sunday morning, there is a "Young Families" class for those families
whose children are not yet in elementary school. A second class called "Family
Matters" is for those families whose children are in elementary school and older.
Capable teachers, who are themselves parents, lead the class in discussion and sharing.
Fellowship and Small Group Bible Studies
A monthly large group activity is held to promote fellowship among our members
as well as with other groups. Regular meetings are planned between the two Sunday
School classes, as well as with the Young Married's class. Recent activities have
included a crawfish boil, gym night, and a parent's night out.
Due to the variety of different needs and time limitation, small groups are
developing based on individual needs. Some small groups have already been formed,
and others are encouraged to to formed. Please contact one of the persons listed
below if you would like to be part of a small group Bible Study.
During the Sunday School time, the teachers lead the class in choosing curriculum, and in facilitating discussion and sharing. At times, the class may combine with other classes for certain sessions, or split up into men's and women's groups to focus on gender-specific topics. In the past, this class studied Parenting by Grace, Couples in the Bible, and Step by Step Through the Old Testament. This class also has a strong prayer group, as prayer requests and needs relative to this class and CBC in general are shared and acted upon every week.
Fellowship Activities
This ministry group plans fellowships throughout with year, with certain events targeted as combined fellowships between the Family Matters and Young Marrieds classes to promote more global fellowship and interaction between the groups. Periodic Meetings are held between these Sunday School classes to plan such events, and to define and implement strategy to ease the transition from one class to the next. The fellowships are intended to foster and strengthen friendships and personal relationships between the parents, and to provide a nurturing environment for the children to develop spiritually, emotionally, and physically among and between themselves. Recent activities have included a picnic, Children's Museum trip, an Easter Party/Egg Hunt, a swimming party, a Christmas party, and a parent's night out. These fellowships also seek to emphasize the importance of recognizing and sharing God's blessings through service-related projects.
If you have questions about this ministry, please contact Gary and Cathy Sham, via the CBC Office at 713-461-0963.
