Before coming to the United States, Jessie was an English teacher at a maritime university in China. During this time, she was led to the Lord by a missionary from the States and two missionaries from Australia.

A year after coming to the States, she was baptized at West Houston Chinese Church. After receiving a Master of Science degree in Accountancy from the University of Houston in 2003, she taught at the University of Houston for 3 years. Jessie spent subsequent years home schooling her daughter until she went to college. During that time, she was certified to teach Chinese and has been teaching Chinese online.

Jessie and her family joined the family of Chinese Baptist Church in 2011.
